Over the years, I’ve developed a weekly routine to help me stay on track with my goals, and it’s been a game-changer. Saturdays have become my dedicated “Review and Reset” days, where I take a step back to evaluate and realign. Here’s a glimpse into my process.
Daily Priorities
Each day, I focus on three main priorities. These are the foundation of my week and help ensure I stay grounded and productive. Here’s how I break it down:
Monday: Prayer, devotion, and setting goals. I also track progress to ensure I’m staying aligned with my aspirations.
Tuesday: Prayer, devotion, and personal tasks. These include creative pursuits like painting, planting or nurturing relationships by spending time with people.
Wednesday: Prayer, devotion, and Bible study. This midweek spiritual focus keeps me centered.
Thursday: Prayer, devotion, and Date night. My husband and I make sure we spend this very valuable time just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company. Some of our favorite date night activities include going to the river, playing games together or just going for a drive.
Friday: Prayer, devotion, and fun family/friend-focused activities (FFF). Fridays are all about joy and connection. And if we can’t be with those we love I try to send out messages to everyone letting them know I’m thinking of them.
Saturday: Prayer, devotion, and my “Review and Reset” routine.
Sunday: The Lord’s Day. It’s a time of rest, reflection, and worship.
Areas of Focus
Beyond my daily priorities, I’ve identified key areas where I set additional goals. These areas blend into my weekly plans, keeping things dynamic and holistic:
My husband: I pray for him daily. I also set daily goals in the areas on 1 on 1 face time and shoulder to shoulder time.
Relationship Building: I focus on nurturing meaningful connections, whether with family, friends, or others.
Home: Daily tasks to keep my home organized and welcoming.
Farm: Responsibilities that come with caring for animals and crops.
Garden: Maintaining and cultivating our outdoor spaces.
Trade: Working on skills or projects related to my trade.
Personal: Focusing on self-care, growth, or creative pursuits.
The Review Process
On Saturdays, I pause to review the week. I look back at the weekly goals I set on Monday, assess what’s been accomplished, and identify areas where I fell short. This reflection allows me to:
- Complete any unfinished tasks.
- Reassess and adjust goals as needed.
- Celebrate progress and learn from setbacks.
The Reset Routine
After the review comes the reset. This is a physical and mental preparation for the week ahead. I ensure that:
- The house is cleaned and ready for a fresh start.
- My planner or tracker is updated with tasks and goals.
- Everything is organized so that when Monday arrives, I’m ready to dive in.
A Weekly Reflection
Looking back on last week, I’m proud to say that I accomplished all the goals I set out to achieve. Each step, no matter how small, feels significant in the grand scheme of things.
This routine has brought clarity and purpose to my days. By focusing on prayer, intentional goal-setting, and regular reflection, I’ve found a rhythm that works for me. If you’re looking to create your own system, start small—identify a few priorities, set aside time for review, and don’t forget to reset. Progress is a journey, not a destination.
